Testing times – 10 January at Jerez

Wed, 11 January 2006, 08:23

Yesterday saw the 2006 testing kick off once more at the Jerez Circuit. Only four teams took to the track on the day. Ferrari and Toyota set the best times as Renault’s new R26 made a successful track debut and Red Bull Racing continued to battle with cooling problems. They used the usual workaround of extra holes in the bodywork however, allowing David Coulthard to complete 31 laps. Alonso ran last year’s R25 with a restricted V10 engine, concentrating mostly on brake development.

Fastest times per driver:

Michael Schumacher (Ferrari) 1.18.020 (82 laps)
Ricardo Zonta (Toyota) 1.19.348 (66 laps)
Ralf Schumacher (Toyota) 1.19.866 (59 laps)
Fernando Alonso (Renault) 1.19.929 (61 laps)
Luca Badoer (Ferrari) 1.20.091 (63 laps)
Giancarlo Fisichella (Renault) 1.20.555 (39 laps)
David Coulthard (Red Bull Racing) 1.21.986 (31 laps)
