Toro Rosso’s controversial new car failed to make its track ‘shakedown’ on Tuesday, despite the fact that Vitantonio Liuzzi’s V8 engine was running.
With just a few minutes before the day’s scheduled action drew to a close at the Circuit de Catalunya group test, BMW’s stricken Nick Heidfeld brought out a red flag and put paid to the first laps of STR2’s life.
Liuzzi, 25, will now drive the familiarly-liveried car for the first time early on Wednesday morning — the last of the three day test.
