Toro Rosso plan to build a new factory in Italy in the next few years, the Faenza based team’s co-owner Gerhard Berger said.

The 47-year-old Austrian told Italian magazine Autosprint that the former Minardi squad does not plan to set up a base in England, to be nearer to parent team Red Bull.

“In the next years we want to build a new factory, still in Faenza or otherwise in Forli,” former grand prix winner Berger said.

Forli, in the Emilia-Romagna region and located a few kilometres south east of Faenza, conveniently features an airport.

Berger insisted: “The important thing for the team is to keep our Italian image.”
