Toyota confirmed on Wednesday morning that Franck Montagny has signed a contract to be the team’s third driver in 2007.
The press release said Montagny, 28, would join racers Ralf Schumacher and Jarno Trulli at the Cologne based team ‘from the start of next year’.
“His (recent test) outing at Silverstone was a good opportunity to familiarise himself with the team at a time when discussions were almost complete,” said team principal Tsutomu Tomita.
Montagny was a Renault test driver between 2003 and 2005, and in 2006 raced and tested for the Super Aguri team.
