Tung on hunt for Spyker test cash

Ho-Pin Tung must first collect enough sponsorship to be considered by Spyker for a 2007 test seat, according to the Chinese-Dutchman’s manager.

Bert Winkler, who oversees the management of the newly crowned German F3 champion, confirmed reports that said the 24-year-old – who was actually born in Holland – was in the frame to join the Silverstone team next year.

Tung already has a link with Spyker, having helped the Dutch manufacturer to launch a new model recently in Beijing.

“To test for Spyker would be great experience for Ho-Pin,” Winkler told Formule 1 Race Report, amid speculation that Tiago Monteiro might also be in the frame for a seat now that Adrian Sutil has landed the race drive.

Winkler cautioned: “It is just like looking into a lolly shop — if you have no money, you go without.”
