Renault’s 2007 driver lineup Giancarlo Fisichella and Heikki Kovalainen suffered reliability dramas as testing on Thursday continued in Spain.
At the Jerez circuit, Super Aguri’s Anthony Davidson – albeit with a low fuel load – recorded the best time of the day while Fisichella’s new ‘R27’ at one point returned to the pits covered by a sheet on the back of a truck.
In a second new Renault, Finn Kovalainen’s car suffered “electrical gremlins”, the team said.
Over at Valencia, meanwhile, Robert Kubica was “hindered by some teething problems” as he got to work for the first time in BMW-Sauber’s 2007 car, F1.07.
Following the shakedown of McLaren’s new MP4-22 on Wednesday, BMW is now enjoying exclusive use of the Spanish test venue.
