UK fans get coverage overload this season

This season UK fans of Formula One get extended coverage of 2006 season with not only all of the races and qualifying being online but also there will be commentary on the three practice sessions online as well.

As well as being able to listen to the race commentary online, bbc.co.uk/fivelive has a download after every race called The Chequered Flag.

The half hour programme, also available as a podcast, will be presented by David Croft with full analysis from the race.

If that wasn’t enough on Every Friday night on Five Live there will be the latest F1 news with previews of forthcoming races, driver profiles, a guide to the Grand Prix venue and other special features.

David Croft heads up the team who will provide live commentary on every single race, starting in Bahrain on Sunday 12 March.

Maurice Hamilton is the main summariser and will give his expert analysis and insights on proceedings as well as getting top name interviews.

Also joining the team is Holly Samos who will be live in the pit lane and paddock at each Grand Prix providing listeners with the latest driver news and gossip.

A welcome return to F1 is the UK’s legendary motor sport commentator Murray Walker who has signed up to contribute special features and interviews across the season.

In addition, the team will be joined by a guest summariser from the world of Formula One at each Grand Prix who for the opening race is former Grand Prix winner Johnny Herbert.

Five Live is available to listen to online, on DAB digital radio, on digital television (Sky Digital: 0105, Freeview: 75, NTL: 863, Telewest: 905) and on 909 & 693 MW.
