The latest news from Montreal is that Robert Kubica will leave a downtown hospital on Monday — with no broken bones.
Contrary to earlier reports that said the 22-year-old Pole had broken a leg in his horror 280kph crash in the Canadian grand prix, BMW-Sauber team boss Mario Theissen confirmed that Kubica is actually fully intact.
He told Sport-Informations-Dienst that suspicions of a broken leg were not confirmed after thorough checks at the Sacre-Coeur hospital.
“I am really very relieved,” Theissen said, although it must be a possibility that Kubica – who was knocked unconscious in the incident – will be replaced by either test driver Sebastian Vettel or Timo Glock for the upcoming US GP this weekend.
Ferrari’s Felipe Massa said: “I am happy that he was not seriously injured — it is almost a miracle.”
