The fastest man through the speed trap in Suzuka’s challenging ‘130R’ sweeper on Friday was BMW-Sauber tester and teenager Sebastian Vettel.
On his first visit to the Japanese circuit, the German clocked 301kph in the flat-out left hander in the drying conditions of afternoon practice at 2pm.
On the way to sixth fastest overall, it was also his first experience of driving a formula one car in the wet.
