Red Bull Racing driver, Mark Webber, announced today, that he will quit Formula 1 after 2013 season.

In next season the Australian will join Porsche’s new LMP1 sportscar programme.

“Porsche has written racing history as a manufacturer and stands for outstanding technology and performance at the highest level. I’m very much looking forward to this new challenge after my time in F1. Porsche will undoubtedly set itself very high goals. I can hardly wait to pilot one of the fastest sportscars in the world” – said Webber.

36-year old driver is in Formula 1 from 2002 season. He started with Minardi and in his first GP he was 5th after P18 after qualifications. It was his best finish until 2005 season when he moved to Williams (in 2003 and 2004 he was in Jaguar) and scored his first podium.

In 2007 he signed deal with Red Bull and in that team he won 9 races and scored 11 pole positions. He entered 205 gp so far and scored 917,5 points.

Webber never admitted that he is Red Bull second driver but in last few years many times team prefered to help Sebastian Vettel than Webber. It`s quite obvious that this in one of the reasons why Australian is leaving F1.

2007 world champion Kimi Raikkonen is the favourite to replace Webber at Red Bull.
