Red Bull’s Mark Webber is this week trialling an exclusive helmet at Jerez.
It is understood that the Australian driver’s all-white ‘Arai’ model is the idea of the team’s renowned car designer Adrian Newey — who thinks it will better channel air in and around the new RB3 single seater’s air box.
He also wore the helmet last week at Valencia.
Webber, 30, usually wears Schuberth’s $20,000 ‘Formel 1-Racehelm RF1’ helmet, as do others including Kimi Raikkonen, Ralf Schumacher, Nick Heidfeld and Rubens Barrichello.
Michael Schumacher pioneered the use of the super-strong and bullet-proof Schuberth in 2004.
