Williams announce new title sponsor

Williams announced on Friday that AT&T, which formerly stood for ‘American Telephone and Telegraph’, will become title sponsor next year.

The multi year agreement, speculated to be worth up to $50m per year for at least three years, will see the newly Toyota-powered renamed ‘AT&T WilliamsF1 Team’ from 2007.

AT&T, based in San Antonio and Texas (USA), has existing formula one links with the McLaren and Jaguar teams. Williams, founded by Sir Frank Williams and Patrick Head in 1977, did not have a title sponsor in 2006.
