Wurz rules out wins for Williams in 2007

Alex Wurz, who in 2007 returns to the grand prix grid after six years as a test driver, says he does not expect to win a race for the Williams team next year.

“That is asking for too much,” the Austrian veteran told broadcaster ‘ORF’, “but if everything goes to plan we want to score points off our own back and on a good weekend aim for the podium.”

With Mark Webber and Nico Rosberg at the wheel in 2006, Grove-based Williams – the winner of 9 constructors’ titles – slumped to eighth in the championship tables.

Wurz, 32 and the team’s ‘Friday’ driver this year, said he hoped to “turn the trend” for Sir Frank Williams’ team in 2007, which has recruited some key names from the aerodynamics departments at Renault and McLaren.

Williams will also start 2007 with a title sponsor — AT&T.
