Super Aguri announced on Tuesday that Sakon Yamamoto will stay at the Japanese F1 team as a “second test driver” in 2007.

The 24-year-old will support the Leafield based squad’s newly appointed “test and reserve driver” Giedo van der Garde, a statement on Boxing Day read.

Team principal Aguri Suzuki said of Yamamoto: “We will help him to secure a race seat in another category for 2007 and I am confident that his experience gained from formula one racing this year will help him achieve this goal.”
