Bernie Ecclestone has given the green light to plans for formula one theme parks to be built in Dubai and elsewhere.

United Arab Emirates property developer Union Properties was granted exclusive rights for the projects at a signing in London on Thursday.

The initial $360m theme park, to be located at the existing formula one-style circuit in Dubai, will be ready in 2009.

Construction is to begin next month.

“We will start in Dubai and then together we will see where our next F1 theme park will be,” said Ecclestone, F1’s CEO.
