Dec.11 (GMM) Proposals to immediately improve the spectacle of the grand prix weekend will be developed by the formula one teams.
After Thursday’s meeting of the F1 Commission in Monaco, the FIA announced that the teams’ Sporting Working Group has been given a “strong mandate” to make changes for the benefit of spectators in 2010.
Germany’s Auto Motor und Sport reports that an example of one of the proposals will be the improvement of the pre-race driver parade.
Although parades with individual cars is common at some races, most events see the drivers climb aboard a decorated flat-bed truck for a slow lap of the circuit.
“We all know that the driver parade can be improved,” Mercedes chief executive Nick Fry said.
“Putting the drivers on a truck where they then talk with one another is probably not the best presentation. We’ll work on it,” the Briton added.
Also decided by the F1 Commission on Thursday was that the FIA and the commercial rights holder will work to “enhance the communication and promotion of the championship to the media and its worldwide fanbase”.
