Fourth Spanish test track ready for F1

A fourth Spanish circuit could be used for winter testing by formula one teams as soon as late this month, we can reveal.

In addition to the existing venues at Jerez, Barcelona and Valencia, the Circuito Monteblanco – 48 kilometres from southern city Seville – has obtained a type-1 FIA license, allowing F1 testing and GP2 races.

It is understood that, with final asphalting works now completed, the 4.5km track will be ready to host F1 tests in late January.

Like the lauded facility at Paul Ricard, Monteblanco is able to be modified into several different layouts, and an irrigation system makes wet running easy to plan, according to a source.
