Istanbul can expect to rake in more than (US)$64 million during the second annual Turkish grand prix this weekend, according to a report.

In a report entitled ‘Formula One Economy: Turkish Grand Prix Istanbul’, local consultancy firm Deloitte said an estimated 240,000 spectators would congregate to watch the event.

45,000 will be foreign tourists, it added, and 25,000 are to originate from outside Istanbul, the largest city in Turkey.

At the inaugural Turkish grand prix, held at the new ‘Otodrom’ circuit last August, 100,000 spectators gathered on race day to watch Kimi Raikkonen win in his McLaren.
