Dr Mark Gillan, formerly of Jaguar, will re-launch his formula one career next year by joining Toyota.
The 36-year-old, who was ‘head of car performance’ at Milton-Keynes based Jaguar until the team was sold to energy drink Red Bull, returned to the world of academia at the start of last year with a plum job in ‘aerospace engineering’ at the University of Surrey.
Previously, Gillan also worked for McLaren until 1998, but he will be Toyota’s ‘head of aerodynamics’ from 2007.
