Event organizer Rotterdam Racing is pleased to announce that its unique City Racing motorsports event will be organized in Russia in 2008. Rotterdam Racing organizes successful concepts such as Bavaria City Racing and ING RaceSalon. It was confirmed today that on Sunday 13 July 2008, Moscow city centre will set the stage for the first foreign edition of the City Racing concept.

International Interest
Various cities around the world have shown an interest in the unique City Racing concept since the first edition organised in 2005, named ‘Monaco on the Maas’. Moscow has been one of the most serious candidates since day one. During the Bavaria City Racing event in 2007, several policymakers from the Russian capital were present in Rotterdam. The huge crowds that attended the event made such an impression on the Russian guests that their plans for a similar event took shape quite rapidly after their visit. The municipality of Moscow and the Kremlin has rapidly given their permission to organise the event. Since the Moscow Olympic Games in 1980, the Russians have been waiting for quite a while for another large-scale event. Almost three decades later, the Russian people will be treated to a unique motorsports extravaganza.

Red Square
The focal point for the Russian event will be the world famous Red Square. Drivers will start at the Red Square and drive past the Kremlin, along the Moscow River toward, Bolshoi Theatre Square, treating the crowd to donuts’, screeching tyres and roaring engines. “I am so happy we received the final green light and we can finally officially announce it to the public. I can already see Formula 1-cars roaring along the Kremlin and spectators on the Red Square loving every second of it”, says Robert Heilbron of Rotterdam Racing.

On Sunday 13 July 2008, in between the Formula 1 Grand Prix’ of Great Britain and Germany F1 teams and drivers will make a stop-over in Russia for the Moscow City Racing event. Which teams and drivers will be in attendance in Moscow will be announced shortly.
