In the Istanbul paddock, Honda has announced a one-race deal with Turkish grand prix title sponsor ‘Petrol Ofisi’. The Japanese squad will run a bespoke livery for Anthony Davidson’s ‘Friday’ car, while the logo of the petrol company adorns the race cars of Rubens Barrichello and Jenson Button.

The sad news at the ‘Otodrom’ venue is that former McLaren co-owner and director Creighton Brown died last Sunday after a battle with cancer.

Williams’ former marketing chief, Jim Wright, will start work at the Toro Rosso team at the start of September. He will concentrate on finding sponsors for the partly Red Bull-owned team in Gerhard Berger’s Monaco office.

Ayrton Senna’s 22-year-old nephew, Bruno Senna, is now being linked with the Brazilian ‘A1 Grand Prix’ team, which is run by Emerson Fittipaldi. It is rumoured that Fittipaldi has already offered him a test in the car.
