Oct.17 (GMM) Nelson Piquet has admitted his visit to the Interlagos paddock this weekend is partly to find a drive for his out-of-work son.
Triple world champion Piquet Snr said earlier in Brazil that his 23-year-old namesake, ousted by Renault earlier this year before the crash-gate saga, nearly switched to Toro Rosso ahead of the 2009 season.
Piquet, 23, was in America earlier this week for a NASCAR pick-up truck test, but has not given up on resurrecting his formula one career.
His father, already linked with funding a drive for Piquet Jr with one of F1’s new teams, told Globo television that he chose to attend this weekend’s race in Sao Paulo to “reconnect with friends and look for work for Nelson”.
