Five test drivers on Tuesday kicked off the final formula one tests of the 2006 grand prix season.
Ferrari, Williams and McLaren started running at a warm and windy Jerez in southern Spain, where they will be joined on Wednesday by BMW-Sauber and Toyota.
The retiring Michael Schumacher, meanwhile, is scheduled to arrive in the area on Tuesday evening ahead of his last test as a race driver.
At Silverstone, meanwhile, Renault and the locally based Spyker are set to test this week, while Honda and the Red Bull teams concluded their in-season programmes prior to the China-Japan double header.
