Renowned F1 circuit designer Hermann Tilke has travelled to Pinto, in the southwest of Madrid, to evaluate the proposed site for a new grand prix circuit in Spain, according to reports.

The newspaper ‘Diario As’ claims that the track could become another venue for formula one testing, alongside the popular Spanish destinations at Barcelona, Jerez and Valencia.

The test circuit would also be in addition to the new Spanish venue at Monteblanco, near Seville.

An official in charge of the project said: “We will build a special facility — something that is able to welcome all types of motor sport but something that is also unique.”
