Oct.23 (GMM) Jean Todt has been elected to be the new president of F1’s governing body, the FIA.
At a five-star hotel near the Federation’s Paris headquarters, the worldwide membership gathered and almost 70 per cent of the votes were cast in favour of the 63-year-old Frenchman winning a four-year term to replace the incumbent Max Mosley.
The FIA confirmed that only 49 of the 196 votes were for Ari Vatanen, the 1981 world rally champion, while 12 abstained.
