Mercedes’ Norbert Haug had high praise for Pedro de la Rosa after the Spaniard, filling departed McLaren racer Juan Pablo Montoya’s seat, finished a surprise second in Hungary.

”Pedro was sensational,” the German carmaker’s competition chief told ‘Premiere’.

Spanish-speaking TV network ‘Televan’, meanwhile, reported in its grand prix coverage on Sunday that the 35-year-old team test driver has been guaranteed the ride at least until Monza next month.

It means that de la Rosa will definitely race after the three-week summer break in Turkey, and again in Italy.
