United States grand prix chief Tony George last week suffered an embarrassing return to the racing asphalt.

The CEO of the American formula one venue, Indianapolis Motor Speedway, had not driven a racing car in anger since 2001 when he crashed his Daytona Prototype last Friday afternoon.

George, 47, was testing the car at Daytona International Speedway ahead of this month’s famous 24 Hours of Daytona.

“He was not injured,” the newspaper Indianapolis Star wrote.
