Today event organizer Rotterdam Racing proudly presents the first main participator of City Racing Rotterdam on August 18th in Rotterdam. Caterham F1 Team and Giedo van der Garde will again drive the streets of Rotterdam during the ninth edition of City Racing Rotterdam. The only Dutch F1 driver made his first F1 demonstration during City Racing and has warm thoughts of last year’s edition. During his final lap, Giedo stopped, after a burn-out, on the Willemsbridge and asked his fiancé to marry him, with hundreds of thousands visitors witnessing this emotional moment.
The Caterham F1 Team driver has surprised everyone four weeks ago during the Grand Prix of Monaco as Van der Garde placed himself for the Q2. Van der Garde is at the moment in full preparation for the next race at Silverstone and is building up a lot of experience during his first seasons in de Formula 1. This will certainly be showed during the largest auto sport event in the Netherlands on Sunday, August 18th.
Van der Garde can’t wait to return to his fans in The Netherlands. ‘Last year was the first time that I ran the Caterham F1 Team car through the streets of Rotterdam and it was a unique experience. To drive past half a million people was a dream come true and I promise that this years’ demonstration will even be better !’ says an enthusiastic van der Garde.
The organization is very happy that Caterham F1 Team has accepted the invitation. ‘We are very proud that Giedo will again entertain the hundreds of thousands race fan’s in Rotterdam and the VIP village on the Willemsbridge and I am sure that Giedo will touch the emotions again and give an unforgettable experience to these fans. Next to the fact that we will announce more participants in the coming weeks, the focus during this ninth edition will be on the link between fun and technology. The preparations for the ninth edition are proceeding at full speed. There is a spectacular program at the circuit and around the circuit. The organizer expects that in the short term a lot of more spectacular names will be announced and added to the line up on Sunday August 18th.
